  I am amazed these guys have some good ratings. I called to inquire about a taxi to SFO for a future flight. The phone connection was bad and the person taking the call was difficult to understand. After a few minutes of my inquiry, he put me on hold to listen to some lousy music. When he returned in about 4 or 5 minutes the difficulties continued and then he hung up. So thanks to him I now know that Merit will not be in my future.

  Showed up early and waited for me for a 4:30am ride to SJC. The driver was courteous and knowledgeable. I felt safe and relaxed even though it was pitch dark outside. Recommended for reliability and good service.

  Long time customer of 14 years and surprised I haven't dropped my words of wisdom with this company, Merit does not disappoint with punctuality and great customer service.
Over the course of my 14 years of using their services, being the millennial that I am, i've tried other taxis before but this one takes the cake for being consistent and reliable here in the bay area!

Whether it be using the website itself or calling in to book (which btw, their number is 24/7 or even texting too!), someone is always there to pick up your call even on the busiest hours:

Having a consistent driver each time helps and they would appoint another driver if your regular driver is busy.
I've pretty much have been driven by all the majority of their drivers by now and they go above & beyond.
From booking over the phone to physically being in their vehicles, the drivers they have on staff - each have unique personalities and despite the last minute calls I make, they STILL provide great service each time - from handling my luggages along with making sure the vehicle is clean per trips they make, the drivers sometimes provide free water and hand sanitizers on hand for me to use, or simply remembering your face to spark up random conversations to make the time fly by or keep me awake if I need them to.

Even dispatchers recognize my number whenever I call and as swift as they can, they're done in 30s-1m from being a regular user! (They take cash or card, or when you book online, your card information is saved so them

They provide services within reach of SFO airport or even able to drop off in far off places from time to time - booking in advance is always a FANTASTIC thing for me as they always secure a driver each time I do so. And the request for your usual cabbie, your regular driver can contact you on request or using the app that notifies you along with an automated text message (which btw, it is VERY convenient in the early/late hours when i order my pick ups and don't want to wake anyone up)

Cheaper than Uber and Lyft, I recommend using cab services all over again as they have a more reasonable price - consistency and customer services is more personal, better and key for a great company. I am actually recommending everyone to use Merit as they have been there for as long as I've known. Great for the nostalgic people out there too that are like me, that prefers the older methods of getting around. Ever wanted to re-live those moments from before? It's like a cabbie montage of sight seeing in the movie scenes... .

Needed a cab from an urgent care center around midnight, and the woman behind the desk gave me their number.

Sped all the way home crossing the yellow lines repeatedly. When I pulled up to my building he then told me that he only takes cash. What?? And that the bill was $85 to go twenty miles. I told him I was quoted three dollars a mile when I called, and he said that wasn't correct.

I went inside to borrow five twenties from my roommate, and when I returned to the taxi the driver said he didn't have any change. Seriously? At that point I just handed him the money and went inside. By now I wasn't happy that he knew where I lived.

I didn't get his name, but he said he lived in a car or a van or something.

Super super sketchy business practices. Am going straight back to Lyft.

  We called to ask for rates in advance for San Carlos to SFO at midday on a Saturday. (Beautiful, sunny day and no traffic). We were quoted that the meter rate was $3 per mile and they estimated the ride as approximately 15 miles. That's approximately $45. The driver charged us $80 and claimed there was an extra airport fee. This was never mentioned when we called. Driver arrived 5 mins early, was polite and the car was very clean but the fare was quite a bad surprise. In the end, the Uber quote was much cheaper! This company should mention ALL fees in advance.

  I would highly recommend Merit Taxi. I needed a 4:30 am pick up and reserving Uber ahead was so expensive and I wasn't sure if I could trust not getting canceled on.

I went online to Mert Taxi and was able to see a quote for my ride which was reasonable so I booked it and shortly after, I got an email confirmation.

Morning of, my driver Casey texted me once he arrive (early) and put my luggage in the trunk and opened the door for me. The car was a town car and it was nice. Such a smooth ride. Casey had the heat going and bottled waters in the middle arm rest. He was professional an courteous. At SFO Casey open my door and got my luggage out.

He also let me know I can check the text from Merit if I needed to book a return. Great experience! I would definitely use them again.

  People quit using Uber, Lift or any other vehicle driving delivery service. I urge you to start using the cab service again because the cost is a better more convenient price. Taxi service is better service and faster. And you don't have to worry about getting Ripped off since they don't have control over your Debit card. Taxi drivers are a better class of people as well. So you listen Up you young-ins and save your money and wake up and listen to what I am telling you , you young people. Taxi's are a better deal and you can save that Mulah.

  I love this service. I have had nothing but amazing service from Merit taxi and will continue to use their service for all my transport needs!

  I used Merit as often as I can. Even after they sold (or consolidated) with the other company, the drivers and cars I get are still the same as before. Very comfortable and enjoyable ride to the airport for me.

  Five star all the way. I took a taxi because I had an appointment about 20 miles away that I absolutely had to be to on time. I booked a few days ahead. Early in the morning on the day of the ride, Merit Taxi sent me a message about the driver and cab that would pick me up. The driver, Gene, arrived sever minutes early. He was courteous, kind and an excellent driver. It was a very pleasant experience. I will use this service whenever I need a ride again.

  Excellent. Our driver showed up exactly on time, in a nice black Lincoln Town Car, clean, and was very professional.

We called the night before, made an appointment, and that was that. AND, it was cheaper than both of those rideshare app companies.

If you know you are going to need a ride to the airport, party, etc. make an appointment with them.

  This taxi ride picked up my day. No more Uber for me. The driver confirmed when leaving and arriving, opened my door for me with a warm greeting, was very engaging and polite on my ride and the car was so roomy. With Uber, I fear for my life with so many horrible drivers and constant cases of women being taken advantage of. With Merit, I was so relaxed in the great smelling car and smooth ride thanks to my awesome driver and the nice town car he picked me up in. 5 stars!

  There is no one else I'll call for a trip to SFO! Helpful drivers who arrive early every time, help with bags, and drive large cars with plenty of luggage space are worth their weight in gold. Drivers are professional and courteous. The cars are spotless and Merit is always a great start to any trip! The price is reasonable, too!

  "Demerit Taxi" is clueless. Could't find my house in Redwood City. Claimed they'd be there in 15 minutes. Half an hour later, called for more info. Called again. Dispatcher seemed to have forgotten the info they took the first time. Wanted me to call some other phone number. I told them to get lost.

  I have been using merit taxi for 5 months now, and I have to say their service is highly commendable. I use merit taxi often and I have no complaints. They are always on time and the drivers cars are always neat and clean. Even the dispatch is very friendly and they always let us know when the driver is ready for pickup. For anyone looking for quality service at a reasonable price, I highly recommended they use merit taxi!!

  Awesome. I lost my phone earlier today right before an international flight. Called Merit Taxi from Skype, gave them my address and told them there is no call back number, I'm alone at home and I lost my cellphone earlier. No problem they said, and sent my cab. The driver arrived even before the time I asked for.

Both the driver (Jack) and the lady on the phone (Shannon I believe) were super nice.

  Strangest experience calling a business ever. I called to explain that I needed a ride to the airport at 3:30 am and the guy hung up on me. I called back thinking it was a mistake. And he hung up on me again. I called back one more time just because I was so confused and he literally hung up on me as soon as he heard my voice. So odd. I was never rude or anything. So yeah, not sure what's up with this place. Had so many positive reviews I just thought I'd try!

  When you want to get there on time, despite a big backup on 101, call for Steve at Merit Taxi!! It pays to call a professional driver.
